Since they are both rented through an app on your phone, in a way, they do operate 24 hours a day (as long as you have battery on your phone). However, it can happen that they are not available nearby (someone has driven them off far away, or they are being charged or repaired, etc).

As a policy, except to the extent required by applicable laws, we do not offer refunds for your use of our Services, and any exceptions to this policy are in our sole discretion.

When do Lime and Bird scooters turn off? Technically, Bird and Lime scooters don't “turn off.” However, at 9 p.m., all scooters with non-low batteries — at least 90% charged — become “harvestable” (eligible for chargers to pick up).

Payment pre-authorization hold

This hold ensures there are enough funds available to pay for your ride. We release this temporary authorization hold immediately after your ride ends and post a refund within 10 days. This typically appears as an adjustment to your available balance or the removal of a pending charge.

If you have arrived at your parking spot but can't end your ride, check you are close enough to the pin on the Lime app. GPS accuracy can vary based on your network and location, so move as close as possible to the parking pin and try again. Check your internet connection.

Lime will initially use the in-built camera technology on its scooters to detect sidewalk riding, but it has plans to implement other use cases, such as parking detection.

Discounted rides

If you receive subsidized rent, discounted utilities, or nutritional assistance (e.g. SNAP) you likely qualify for rides at a reduced fare. Lime Access gives five free 30-minute rides per day, with additional time at 50% off.

No locking zones

If your Lime Vehicle has a lock, avoid No-Locking zones. When you end your ride, the app will alert you of parking and locking guidelines and help you locate nearby parking. Improperly parked vehicles may be subject to a warning or penalty.

To create a Lime account, you must be the legal age to enter into binding contracts. In most countries, you must be 18 or older to ride Lime scooters or e-bikes. Make sure to review the Lime User Agreement for your country, which states local age requirements.

Generally, Lime scooters are available for use from early morning until late in the evening. In many cities, the scooters are accessible from around 5 or 6 a.m. and remain operational until about 10 p.m. or even midnight.

You may cancel your LimePrime within the Lime App at any time prior to your next scheduled payment to avoid further charges. To do this, go to the LimePrime section in the Lime App and cancel the subscription.

If you see a Lime vehicle parked illegally or improperly, such as blocking a pathway or tipped over, please let us know. You can report it using the Lime app. In the app menu, select Help. Select Improper or illegal parking.
