How is injury length calculated?

Probably a dumb question, but I'm dying for some good news. I'm the Bills in an online franchise, and Mario Williams just got hurt in the Wild Card round. It says 4 weeks injury length.

Now, does that mean he'll miss four games or four calendar weeks? Would he be ready for the Super Bowl?

That's definitely wrong. If it says 4 weeks then the WC Round is included so he would miss the WC game, the Divisional game, the Championship game, and the Pro Bowl.

But he got hurt in the WC game. Typically the only injuries I've noticed that are given a length aside from the same game short term injuries are season enders. This leads me to believe that he is seeing this injury length after the WC game during the divisional week. If that's the case, he is done for the season.

That is not correct. I've definitely had injuries that healed within the same season, but I never actually paid attention to how they were calculated.

Basically, will be miss 4 weeks or be ready in 4 weeks?

If you are in a week and it says he is injured it will include that week. So if you are still in the wild card round and on the injury report it says he is out 4 weeks it is including that week so he would be out WC, Div, Championship, and Pro bowl. If you have already advanced to the divisional round and it says he is out for 4 weeks then he is out for Div, Champ, Pro bowl, and superbowl.

In my experience he'll miss 4. I'm not sure if upping his toughness while injured reduces this. I recently upped McFadden's toughness 10-15 points and the very next game he was injured on his third rush (abdominal strain - missed a few downs) and then on his 5th carry he tore his pectoral and will be out for the season.

Re: How is injury length calculated?

Remember when Madden had players who could play while injured? You could play guys who were Questionable or Probable. I wonder why they did away with that? I like it.

FAQs

How do you calculate injury rate? ›

An incidence rate of injuries and illnesses may be computed from the following formula: (Number of injuries and illnesses X 200,000) / Employee hours worked = Incidence rate.

What is the duration rate of injury? ›

Duration rate — the average number of work days lost per injury. Injury index — the number of work days lost per million hours worked (frequency rate x duration rate).

How is LTI calculated as per OSHA? ›

Calculating Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate

([Number of lost time injuries in the reporting period] x 1,000,000) / (Total hours worked in the reporting period). And voila! Your company's LTIFR is 2.4, which means there were 2.4 lost time injuries for every one million man hours worked.

What is the difference between LTI and TRIR? ›

The LTIR measures the number of lost time incidents per 100 employees working a certain number of hours, while the TRIR measures the number of incidents resulting in lost time or restricted duty per 200,000 hours worked.

What is the formula for injury index? ›

DISABLING INJURY INDEX. An index computed by multiplying the disabling injury frequency rate by the disabling injury severity rate and dividing the product by 1,000: DII = DIFR x DISR / 1000. This measure reflects both frequency and severity, yielding a combined index of total disabling injury (ANSI Z16).

What is the formula for personal injury settlements? ›

The Damages Formula

The adjuster will multiply the medical special damages number by one and a half to three times if the injury is minor and up to five or more times if the injury is especially deliberating and long-term. After this number is calculated, any income lost as a result of the injury will be added.

What is the definition of injury rate? ›

An injury frequency rate is a metric that reflects the number of injuries sustained by workers over a period of time. This is one way employers measure their own safety standards; if they have lower rates then it's likely because they've implemented more rigorous policies around avoiding accidents.

How long is a long term injury? ›

Healthcare providers define a chronic or long-term injury as anything that causes symptoms for at least three months or longer.

Why is it called injury time? ›

What is the LTI formula? ›

(LTI / Total # Hours) x 200,000

For simplicity's sake, let's say you ended the year with two lost time injuries. If the organization calculated 150,000 hours worked, the resulting metric would reflect 2.67 lost time injuries per 100 workers.

How is OSHA recordable injury rate calculated? ›

TRIR = (Number of OSHA recordable incidents) X 200,000 / (Total number of hours worked)

How to calculate lost time days? ›

How to calculate lost workdays and business costs. The lost time rate calculates the total lost hours as a percentage for the maximum possible hours worked. The formula for this calculation is as follows: The number of hours work missed, divided by the maximum number of hours worked, multiplied by 100.

How do you calculate the injury rate? ›

The basic formula is (N x 200,000)/EH, or the number of cases (N) multiplied by 200,000 then divided by the number of hours worked (EH) by all employees during the time period, where 200,000 is the base for 100 full-time workers (working 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year).

How to calculate man hours without LTI? ›

The formula for calculating the manhour is The total number of workers x the total number of hours worked in a day x the total number of days worked over a specific period.

How does OSHA define a lost time injury? ›

As stated in section B. 1 on page 48 of the Recordkeeping Guidelines for Occupational Injuries and Illnesses, lost workday cases involving days away from work are cases resulting in days the employees would have worked but could not because of the work related injury or illness.

What is the formula for the recordable injury rate? ›

The incident rate calculation is: (N/EH) x 200,000, where N = number of injuries and illnesses; EH = total hours worked by all employees during the calendar year; and 200,000 = base for 100 equivalent full-time workers (working 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year).

How do you calculate the incidence of injury? ›

To calculate the incidence in relation to these exposure hours, the total number of injuries recorded over a period is divided by the total exposure for that period, and the result multi- plied by 1000 to obtain the rate per 1000 hours.

What is the formula for calculating LTIR? ›

The lost time incident rate formula: (lost time injuries / total hours worked) x 200,000 = LTIR per 100 employees. Knowing how to calculate the lost time incident rate is a clear process.
