Hey I just want to say hi and a big Thank You to Dave at Mr Music. My wife and I where looking for a bag/case for our son’s banjo. After talking to Dave over the phone and finding out they did have a bag, we went to the store. Dave was at the store and had the bag ready. They had almost every instrument known. String, brass, and a large selection of accordions. Dave’s family is renown for there accordion talent. Dave showed us around and we ended up getting several other things for our daughters as well. Great ukulele section. Found an electric tenor ukulele for our oldest daughter and a really nice percussion set for our youngest. Also got a banjo stand and banjo lessons for our son. Mr Music specializes in music lessons of every kind,seven days a week. I have been a musician for thirty years and have been to a lot of music stores from NY TO California and I have to say that Mr Music has to be at the top of my list. It’s not the biggest store,but they have a great selection and expertise. And most of all very friendly and a lot of soul! Thanks again, hope to see you the next time we’re in Ft. Myers.

Mr Music and their staff are off the charts! I went here about 7 years ago when I was getting my start in music and needed some help developing my vocals. The instructor had me singing better within a few shorts weeks and by month two I had all the knowledge I needed to continue on to FIVE YEARS of professional gigging. Not only did this help my voice, but it also provided me the opportunity to sing professionally full time for a living! I am now back and working toward taking that next step from professional intermediate, to full on singing freedom.

The first thing my teacher had me do was stretch and relax before getting into any sort of lesson. It was a beautiful session and I cannot wait for tomorrow! I go here weekly and they give you a discount for booking monthly in advance! Wonderful place. I hope to be here for the next 12 months developing my craft! I would like to be a session singer and possibly audition for The Voice on top of recording all the music I have written over the years!

This is a wonderful place and I HIGHLY recommend anyone at any level to take lessons here! The also have great instruments for purchase that are fairly priced!

I recently was having difficulty with my Accordion that I have played on for many years.Even though I am up in age I still get excited about music when I pick up my Accordion and play some of the old tunes I remember. I knew David from previous trips to his store and looking at what he has to sell. I knew he would be the one to look at my Accordion and I would know it was in good hands.

I left it with him and the very next day he knew exactly what it needed and I gave him the OK to fix it. Within a day or two he had it fixed and sounds great like it always did. He truly is a Musician and you can see his love for it. He is very professional, competent and I am confident in his work. I have had to bring in several different pieces for repair including an electric guitar, a guitar amp, and an acoustic guitar with issues ranging from cosmetic (new knobs and switches) to serious internal issues (Fender Amp, broken inputs + reverb) and every time they have been repaired back to perfect condition. Quick turnaround and also a very reasonably priced selection of all the accessories you could need. Highly recommend.

Several weeks ago my son had an “accident” with his violin during a rehearsal for his high school musical, in which he broke its neck off. We took the badly broken instrument to Mr. Music and they expertly fixed it with a 24 hour turn around time. As an adult beginning violin student, I’m very pleased with the instruction from Hunter at Mr Music. At first I was afraid to even contact a music store to ask for lessons, knowing that students usually start very young and here I was a man in his seventies who couldn’t even read music! Would they laugh at me? Would they politely say it was just too late? No to both worries—David and Bob at Mr Music welcomed me, treated me with respect, and encouraged me to try a class.

After one lesson I was hooked—Hunter was just the right instructor for me, since my interests extend to fiddling as well as formal violin. Once a week turned out to be just right, giving me several days to practice between lessons. Hunter is very generous in sharing his knowledge not only of violin technique, but also of music theory. And occasionally we touch on bluegrass, gospel, blues, and other forms.

Now, five months later, I’m very comfortable with my violin and can pick out works from sheet music and by ear. And more importantly, this has opened up a whole new world for me: how music is constructed, how chords fit together, and the importance of keys—all of this has greatly enhanced my appreciation of the music I enjoy listening to.

So, if you’ve been putting off getting started in music, don’t wait any longer—give David or Bob a call and let them set you up with an instructor to suit your musical aspirations. You’ll love it!

I was very pleased with the lessons at Mr. Music. I play drums (rock) and wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar. My goal was to pick up my bass and play along with songs. Tried that and quickly realized it was going to be difficult and frustrating. Talked to a few friends that played guitar and they weren’t much help – play the chord note. Well I don’t know how to read music, I don’t know what chord you’re playing and doing that sounds boring. (Bass players I used to play with did a lot more than just play the chord note!) Checked around for some courses and finally selected an on-line course that boasted “Play by Ear”. Another dead end – 40 weeks of couses, boring exercises, reading music and it wasn’t fun. Got to lesson 5 and trashed it. Tried Mr. Music and got exactly what I wanted – theory so I’d know what to play, application so I’d know how to implement it and correction of some bad playing habits. After 4 lessons I can play along with songs – don’t have the speed yet but I know what I’m doing, it’s fun and it wasn’t even expensive.

Last September I went to Mr. Music to see about purchasing a harp, a dream of longstanding. Many years earlier I had seen one at Mr. Music’s previous location when my husband and I purchased a guitar. Mr. Magnante, the owner, told me he could get one from a harp maker friend with no obligation for me to purchase it. I returned and there was a beautiful harp in the Paraguayan style, which I purchased. It has rich and beautiful tones. Mr. Magnante recently honored his one year warranty on it when it needed a repair. The harp maker also made improvements on it, to my great delight!

Mr. Music is the place to go for warm, friendly advice and personal service for all music needs. It is always such a delight to go there and I have complete confidence that I will find the help that I need from the talented and knowledgeable professionals there.

When the musical plans I had been working on for my parent’s 70th Wedding Anniversary did not materialize, I was desperate. I went to ‘Mr. Music” hoping they could help me find a person who would sing and play the piano to entertain at the event I was planning that was now less than a week away!!. David went above and beyond. He didn’t just give me names and wish me luck. He offered to contact some musicians he was familiar with to see if they were available.

David promised to call me by the next day, no later than noon to tell me if he was able to get an available musician. When my daughter decided she wanted to play the Clarinet in the Estero High SchoolBand, I needed to find an instrument for her. The Bandmaster gave me a short list of recommended instrument sources. After making preliminary phone calls, I went to Mr. Music. Well, I never had to go another place. The fellow at the Mr. Music storepatiently explainedthe instrument choices to my daughter and I. He wasknowledgeable and friendly, answered all of our questions, and put me completely at ease. We bought the clarinet from this fellow, who turned out to be Dave, the owner.

During the years my Daughter was in the high school band, we returned to Mr. Music to buy clarinet reeds etc. I never regretted the purchase.

Finallyshe graduated and moved on to attend.FGCU. She did not join the band at FGCU, but decided she wanted to play guitar. So, we wentback to Dave and ended up buying her first guitar, an acoustic guitar. Another choice we did not regret.She alsowanted to take lessons and we were able to make lessonarrangements through Daveon the day we bought the guitar. When my darling girl managed to “break” her guitar, I found out that Mr. Music could handle the repairs. The guitar was returned as good as new, and at a price that other people told me was very good.

I do not feel that reasonablepricesare the primary reason Ikeep returning to Mr. Music. Rather, the professional, knowledgeable, caringlevel of service is something that can not be duplicated in any chain store.

“Over the years I watched Mr. Music grow, from the first store till now… As a resident of Fort Myers, I amvery happy to see they are still open and serving our community with the same mission as started by the original “Mr. Music”,..the one and only “Mickey Magnante”.

I remember taking lessons as a child with Mickey and going to his “band recitals”, and playing with his other students in front of the court house at Christmas, playing at the Edison Mall, and performing at his yearly concerts which people came all over for as he would always have “Charlie Magnante” as his special guest and other performers local and nationally known. From accordionists to rock n roll bands, he did it all ! He encouraged and gave music in any form.

The thing I remember most was Mickey always having candy for us…always laughing, joking and giving. I would walk to his store after school till my Mom could pick me up and he would always tell stories and give free things to help my Mom out financially. He adopted many children here “musically-speaking”…from “Carters Ranch orphans”, to migrant children in Immokalee. I remember a black woman named, “Ethel Manning”. Mickey took on all her children she took into her home and assisted them to learn a musical instrument. He also, used to teach the choir at St. Francis School and church.
His version of “Let there be peace on earth” would bring tears to your eyes.

In the 70’s, the “Hippies” used to hang around outside the store and play guitars, Mickey always welcomed them…not a usual thing back then. He had a sign that said “If music turns you on, then turn in here”. He brought kids together to form rock n roll bands and would find them jobs at area restaurants, where they would pass the hat around to pay the kids a little earning money.

Mr. Music brought music to Fort Myers before there was any…a family run business from then till now. You could go in to the store at anytime, and see one of his children or his brother at the counter at all times everyone working together.
Today, Mr. Music has grown to be a well rounded still family run business. They are personable, and know everyone “by name”. I now bring my own two children to

Mr. Music for guitar and voice lessons. They look forward to going, and even when they have to wait in the store…they are never bored. They will pick up a guitar or a music book and just play while waiting, frequently seeing some of there friends there. They are encouraged and the store is welcoming to them.
I am happy to see Mr Music is till an influence in our community with the same concept as the original owner, Dave’s father, the original “Mr. Music”, “Mickey”

In today’s world, it is things like “music” that soothe the soul and bring something to our lives in the simplest form. Thank you Mr. Music for the many years and solid memories you have given to me and my family and Fort Myers all these years. It is “Time Well Spent”, another saying Mickey would say about practicing and studying our music.

I made Green Wave (the most advance chorus at my school), now if you recall when I first had lessons with you I told you I auditioned for this year at the end of the year last year and didn’t make it and then I started lessons with you and so I auditioned yesterday and this is what my chorus teacher said ” Michael that was amazing!, you have no idea how proud I am of you, I don’t remember then last time someone has improved so much in the short amount of time you have, I’m putting you in “Greenwave.” I just want to say thank you so much because if I never had you as my teacher then I would have never come to where I am now, thank you so much and there is a lot more work to be done and I’m looking forward to the hopefully years I have you as my singing teacher.

Around 3 years ago today I began taking private classical guitar lessons from Mr. Music. Little did I know that that would become one of the best decisions I’ve made. My instructor Tony was a truly excellent teacher, and brought my playing to a level that I never could have imagined in such a short time. His caring, encouraging personality facilitated a tremendous level of musical growth. The owner and staff are exceedingly helpful and friendly. I would often spend hours in the store before and after my lessons simply because of the wonderful atmosphere it provided. I have been doing business with Mr. Music for many years. I have purchased several guitars both acoustic and electric as well numerous musical items in the store and used them for a repair on a guitar I damaged. I even bought a guitar from Dave’s dad many, many years ago. I have come to personally know the owner of Mr. Music (David Magnate) from my years of doing business with him. Each time I have purchased something or just stopped in for advice, Dave and his staff have always been happy to meet my needs or just answer questions I had at the time. I have always received that personal service that is all too often missing with the big chain store employees. I think Mr. Music has a great inventory and on occasion when they did not have what I wanted, they were all too happy to order it for me. I have been so impressed with them that I now have my grandson going there for his guitar lessons and he loves it! Certainly seems like he is learning music and he loves his instructor. I don’t know about you, but I personally like doing business with locally owned stores of any kind: you know, the stores where you feel like your business really is important and you are not just another customer who’s business doesn’t matter to them.
