When the ball hits the net, the arena erupts in a screech as a fiery phoenix emerges from the goal, flapping its wings with elegance and power as it bursts into cinders over all those who can do nothing but watch.

To those who adore Marvel's X-Men franchise, this goal explosion, whilst not a collab, but remind them of the dreaded power of the Phoenix Force harbored by Jean Grey. It's definitely a power worth admiring, and fearing, especially since it can erupt with every goal scored.

As if it was hard enough to control one ball against a multitude of opponents, when scoring a goal with this explosion equipped, the arena will erupt with plenty of other balls, a cluster of chaos to fill the arena before it is cleared for the next round.

These balls might be recognized by some veteran players due to the fact that they have been featured across various game modes. The goal explosion itself might be exclusive to Season 1, but that just further cements this goal explosion's legacy, and anyone with the carnage of these soccer balls exploding is a veteran to fear the skill of.

13 Calculated

Complete Rocket League Sideswipe Challenges Between July 6 and July 19, 2022

One of the first "crossover" rewards, the Calculated goal explosion was for those who played Rocket Leauge Sideswipe and completed the in-game challenges within. Whilst this item is no longer available, perhaps that's a good thing due to its toxicity and infamy, as the Calculated goal explosion shows one of the more annoying comments that players can make to tease other players.

In-game, players can repeatedly spam the "calculated." text option to tease opponents who miss their goals, or to players who score. With this goal explosion, there's no avoiding seeing that word appear, and it can get pretty annoying pretty fast.

12 Gravity Bomb

It’s rare to find a goal explosion as powerful as the Gravity Bomb. To those who wield this goal explosion, it’s hard to miss, and players will have no choice but to witness the epic scoring potential of whoever wields this item. With Gravity Bomb, players are sucked into the net, pulled into a whirlwind of excited fury for scoring.

No car is left unscathed, and all that is near the net, whether attackers or defenders are pulled into the goal as if to celebrate the ball going in successfully. It’s one of the best goal explosions to draw attention to a goal, whether willing or not.

11 Dunker

Everyone loves donuts. Whether it’s sprinkles, chocolate, or just plain glazed. What better way to celebrate a goal than with a food fight consisting of a variety of different glazed donuts? Dunker is a fun goal explosion that will see donuts splatter around the pitch once a goal has been scored.

Luckily, these donuts don’t stick around as obstructions, and some poor car is going to have to clean them up before the next kick-off. It’s one of the more quirky additions to Rocket League’s items, and definitely one of the friendlier variants that can be had.

10 Jack Skellington

Fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas will enjoy this Rocket League goal explosion, since it features the iconic protagonist, Jack Skellington, emerging from the goal in an invasive fog, holding out some holiday lights and a sinister grin snarled onto his boned face.

Jack even cackles, as if to brag about the goal that has just been scored, rubbing the salt in the wound even more for the opponents. It might not be Halloween or Christmas, but this goal explosion is still a grand one to wield into victory.

9 Batman 2016

There may be a few Batman-themed goal explosions in Rocket League, but the one from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice takes the top spot of the three Batman portrayals. When scoring, the goal will erupt with flair, and an ominous trombone will sound. Amidst this sound, is the arrival of a fiery Batman logo from Ben Affleck’s time as the Caped Crusader.

The fire that surrounds the logo is also swarmed by bats, making for a truly epic goal explosion for fans of Batman. It’s a must-have for Batman fans, but even if they are not feeling the Batman 2016 one, they have the choice of Batman 1989 and The Dark Knight.

8 Beach Party

On a lighter note for a victory goal, the Beach Party goal explosion will be celebrated for everyone. This goal will shout out “Yahoo!” as a bundle of beach balls spits from the goal’s net. Hundreds of beach balls bounce around the pitch, happily making a mess that would be a true burden to clean up, especially when there are only killer cars to fix the mess at hand.

The Beach Party goal explosion is some light-hearted fun it would otherwise be a stressful and competitive experience. The eruption of many different beach balls makes for some Summer fun that Rocket League fans might enjoy.

7 Cosmosis

• Quality: Limited

Cosmosis is a rare and powerful goal explosion indeed, as this variant of the goal explosion will alter the very fabric of reality. Upon scoring, players are immersed in a sci-fi audio cue, and then the entire map is filled with a cosmic reconstruction, altering the visuals of everything for but a moment.

Although players cannot continue through the match with the Cosmosis filter on, the fact that each goal dips its feet into space-time just to celebrate a car hitting a ball into a net is powerful indeed. Players can enjoy this one for its sci-fi aesthetic.

6 Floppy Fish

Rocket Pass 5, Tier 11

• Quality: Limited

The Floppy Fish goal explosion will have players wishing their cars were boats, and they could fish instead of drive. This wacky goal explosion is one of the more quirky ones in Rocket League, and the moment players hit the ball into the net, they will have a barrage of celebration fish that explode from the net, slipping out onto the pitch.

These fish will flop around before despawning. It sounds wet, strangely gross, and will make players not want to score again if they are to be invaded by an army of helpless flopping fish. Nonetheless, it’s one of the funniest Rocket League goal explosions out there.

5 Yeehaw

Rocket Pass 4, Tier 68

• Quality: Limited

Obnoxious, loud, and quick on the draw. Those words perfectly describe a cowboy and an outlaw from the Wild West, and they also perfectly describe the Yeehaw goal explosion in Rocket League. As players score a goal, they will be blessed with a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy hat and hands, that shout out “yeehaw!” upon the celebration of a goal.

However, not only does the talking cowboy hat “yeehaw”, but the two hands make finger guns, and shoot out amongst the pitch to celebrate. The Yeehaw goal explosion is a must for any avid cowboy fans out there or those that just like to prolong their celebrations to the opposite team.

4 Nomster

With the Nomster goal explosion, players might be a tad more hesitant to score a goal. Shooting the ball into the net will summon the dreaded Nomster, which will crunch away at the ball. Fur surrounds the net, as does a hungry set of sharp teeth that relentlessly chop in an attempt to suck anything delicious into its abyss of a mouth.

The Nomster goal explosion has the unique ability to eat cars that fall into its mouth, leaving chomped-up car bits in its wake. It’s a funny little goal explosion in Rocket League and one that adds more of a silly charm to the game.

3 Optimus Prime

In a collaboration with Transformers, Rocket League players were not only able to get their hands on Bumblebee as a car, but they were able to get the Optimus Prime goal explosion. This Rocket League goal explosion is great for several reasons, but perhaps the Prime (get it?) reason to get this, was the very fact that it was the legendary leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime.

When players score, Optimus Prime would emerge from the goal net and put his thumb up. It’s great to be recognized and celebrated by the heroic leader of the Autobots, especially when it's followed by one of the most satisfying sounds in the history of the transforming sound effect from the G1 Transformers cartoon.

2 Paper Dragon

Celebrate in style thanks to the Paper Dragon goal explosion. With this equipped, fireworks will go off to celebrate yet another goal going into the net. Emerging from the center of the net is a large paper dragon, that will fly in the air, roaring some victory fire from its mouth.

The fire breath of this paper dragon makes the celebration electric, and a fiery goal explosion indeed. It’s a great way to celebrate a goal, deserving or otherwise, as who can deny the sheer coolness of having a flying, fire-breathing dragon, emerge from the net?

1 Stay Puft

Bustin’ makes the Ghostbusters feel good, but scoring in Rocket League will have the cars feeling even better, especially with the Stay Puft goal explosion. In this collaboration with Ghostbusters and Rocket League, players can watch as the legendary marshmallow giant, Stay Puft, emerges from between the goalposts.

Stay Puft will roar out as it emerges onto the pitch. However, it takes a few steps before it explodes into sticky and delicious marshmallow goodness. The explosion of Stay Puft is even a reference in itself to the character, who was destroyed by the Ghostbusters in the first movie after they crossed the streams of their proton pack beams.
