About Us | Our Story | Kent Reliance (2024)

We’ve been helping our customers save for the important things in life since the 1840s, and throughout those years always stayed true to our founding principles of loyalty, service and putting our customers first – something we continue to aspire to today.

We’re a national bank with a local feel – our network of branches caters for our customers who want a more personal approach, while we also offer a wide range of postal and online accounts supported by a friendly, dedicated call centre.

We regularly receive awards - some are awarded by the industry or our peers but we're most honoured by those voted for by our customers.

A responsible approach to banking

Kent Reliance is part of OSB Group, a specialist lender and savings provider whose purpose is to help customers, colleagues and communities prosper. Responding to the challenges and opportunities that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters present is an integral part of how we operate, and environmental, social and community matters are at the forefront.

We aim to have a positive impact on society through our activities and commitment to people in our local communities, particularly those from more disadvantaged backgrounds.

You can find out more about the wider ESG commitments of OSB Group as whole at www.osb.co.uk/corporate-responsibility.

Our customers

Our strong, long-standing relationships with our customers is something we are most proud of, and we aim to always put them first. We do this by providing high standards of customer service, and by offering a flexible range of accounts. Whether they’re operated online, in branch, or via post, our savings accounts, cash ISAs and bonds are designed to suit a variety of different savers and different needs.

We know that ensuring the safety of your hard-earned money is paramount, so eligible deposits with Kent Reliance are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit protection scheme.

No matter what support you need, or situation you’re facing, we’re here to help in any way we can, please visit our Support page for further information.

Our communities

We give back to our communities in many different ways, including volunteering, sponsorships, partnerships, supporting community organisations, financial donations and fundraising.

Demelza Hospice Care for Children

We began supporting this Kent-based children’s hospice when it was founded in 1998 through various fundraising and sponsorship initiatives. In January 2018 we also launched our Demelza children's account, from which we make an annual donation to the hospice equivalent to 0.25% of the total average balances held in these accounts.

Our support is vital in allowing the hospice to continue to provide end of life care and special memories to terminally ill children and their families throughout Kent, London and Sussex.

XL@Football

In August 2021 we began our partnership with XL@Football , a female football academy. We became their club sponsor, supporting their senior, youth and coaching teams, and their dedicated player development pathway for players who aspire to a career in professional football.

Our first act as club sponsor was to donate the valuable advertising space on the front of the matchday, training and coaching kits to Demelza, creating a fantastic three-way partnership.

In 2022 we also set up the Kent Reliance scholarship fund, which creates a dedicated development pathway for female football players into the professional game.

We support a variety of other local and national charities and initiatives as a Group, from animal rescue centres to homeless shelters and mental health campaigns.

Our colleagues

Investing in the training, development and expertise of our colleagues has always been a high priority for us. We ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide tailored support to all customers, no matter their circ*mstances or situation.

We look after those who work with us and offer many benefits, including an internal award and recognition programme, a long service incentive and family-friendly benefits. Also, as part of our commitment to our ESG initiatives, we offer a cycle purchase scheme as well as electric vehicle lease scheme, and have installed EV charging points at our office locations.

Our employees also have a “day to make a difference” each year to volunteer for a local good cause, helping towards our commitment to helping the less fortunate in our communities.
